"Outside the Box"

Over the last year my stamping style has evolved into favouring the "Clean and Simple" genre of stamping. So I was drawn to this week's Card Positioning sketch # 141- you can't get much more "Clean and Simple " than this one! These were the 2 cards that I made with it .
The first was inspired by an interesting discussion that took place on Sarah's blog yesterday.
She had thought "outside the box"and used "Trendy Trees" for a Christmas card. But, her husband , in typical male fashion, had described it as a card "with a leaf on it " LOL ! What ensued was a lively discussion about what a Christmas card "should" look like! I did not enter into the discussion but was intrigued by this concept and decided to have a go myself at making a Christmas card using TT and CPS # 141 and this is what I created. (btw- Yes that IS Kiwi Kiss cardstock !) Anyway, after lots of advice and 3 posts- Sarah finally came up with a card she was happy with- and it was pretty similar to what I had done (except hers had a cute scalloped square that I wished I had added!)
My second card was for a "C&S" challenge on SCS to make a card using white and ONE other colour. I used the same sketch and a couple of "Golden Oldies" (Priceless and Mostly Flowers ) to make this Thank you card. The colour I chose was Kiwi Kiss because I wanted to use my new (to me) gorgeous velvet ribbon.
Well this time a week or two ago I was in the middle of a snow storm In New Zealand and now I am in the middle of a Spring Heat wave in Melbourne !! All I can say is Thank you God for our evaporative cooler! (and if you don't believe in climate change you should come and live in Melbourne!)
