Wishing for Spring

No , not me...... I am quite happy that autumn is on its way!.... but they are "wishing for spring" in the U.S which is where "Miss Boo" who runs the clean and simple challenges on SCS comes from, not sure exactly where. But wherever,I guess they have all had their fill of the pretty white stuff over there! - though having never experienced living in it and just looking at it in pictures I think it would be wonderful!! So anyway, wishing for spring was the theme she set for this week's challenge- CAS # 54. and this is the card I have made.
Now I didn't have too many decisions to make for this card,considering I had my layout decided by Andrea's Simply Saturday Sketch (SS130210 ) and my colours decided by Leah's Colour Coach Challenge for February- Mellow moss/pretty in pink/So saffron/Perfect Plum.... so you would think I could have produced it very quickly but sadly I will never qualify for "Speedy stamper of the year" LOL!! Also I have to send a big thanks to Andrea for the pretty bling I have used here that she sent to me! It is from the wonderful range of bling and stamp sets available at "Annabelle Stamps" ..... Guess that will have to be the end of the whingeing about never getting any blog candy!!

Are you intrigued too?? (CPS129)

Some sketches just intrigue me and no matter what I do I just can't stop thinking of creative possibilities! This was one of those kinds.... I made several attempts which did not work and more than once thought I would just forget about this one ! But I just couldn't!!... finally I came up with this design which I was quite happy with and was at last able to get on with the far more important things in life ......like washing and vacuuming ... (yeah right!!) LOL. It was intended to be another masculine card but when I asked my son if he thought it was suitable for a male he said- "Not with that bow on it!!" How can they be pleased???
I should have put it on a darker background for the photo- sorry that the vanilla does not show up very well against my white craft table!
I can't believe I am using so much green lately-not like me at all! DSP is Garden Green Patterns Pack 11/ Cardstock-very vanilla/Ink Whisper White and Garden Green/Stamp set-Trendy trees/Twill tape (in a KNOT not a bow!) and assorted SU buttons which were a RAK from Lisa for my birthday last year- Thanks Lisa!

CAS 28- Masculine card

It's not long until Father's Day in Australia (We have it in September - if anyone reading this is from o/s). So when the Clean and Simple challenge on SCS called for a masculine card I thought that this was a good opportunity to get organised for this occasion. This is the card that I made for my Dad- he is 91 and lives in a nursing home in Sydney now but is happy and doing ok. I used a "Fall to Layout" (don't know which one... sorry) from http://cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot.com..... If you are a fan of the clean and simple style of card like I am then this is a site you HAVE to check out. The DSP is retired ( Le Jardin) Cardstock-mellow moss/always artichoke and vanilla. Twill tape and mellow moss button with linen thread and Stamp set the very versatile Trendy trees!

Winter Wonderland #2

This week's challenge was to make a card inspired by a Christmas Carol. The carol I chose was "Deck the Halls" ! I have wanted to make a "wreath" card for ages but never thought that I had the right stamps to do the job. Then one night, lying awake in bed,thinking about stamping (LOL as you do!!) I suddenly thought of using Trendy trees! Do not ask me why!! (Lol ...Who can cure us of this terrible addiction????) Anyway the next day I tried it and it actually worked-well I am pretty pleased with it anyway. (The card does look better IRL)The berries are made using "Autumn Flair" and I have put some "sparkles" on some of them. The cardstock is Kiwi Kiss and Riding Hood Red and the ink is Encore silver. Please tell me I am not the only one who lies in bed thinking about my next creation!!!

Some trendy males!

Sorry if you are dissappointed and from the title expected to see hunky men!!........."Trendy Trees" male CARDS that is!!
The first one was meant to be for a colour challenge on Mel's blog....... (http:/melhanlon.blogspot.com) She was inspired by the beautiful autumn colours of the trees in Canberra and chose the colours of Garden Green/Ruby Red/ Choc Chip / +Neutral. But oops!!-when I went to link it I discovered that there was meant to be More Mustard in there as well! Oh well !! I enjoyed making it anyway and like how it turned out! The textured background for this card is the spiral from trendy trees and the texture strip from the "So Lovely" hostess set from the last catty. (Versamarked in both directions)
The second layout is for a sketch challenge on Split coast ( SC228 )It uses the texture stamp again for the background but this time in Always Artichoke ink on Always artichoke cardstock. For the right side panel Bravo Burgundy cardstock and ink and a scrap from the (retired) Wintergreen DSP pack . You cannot see it very clearly but the tree panel has been sponged around the edges with the bravo burgundy ink (next time I would change this to always artichoke but hubby says it looks ok for a man as it is) A sentiment from Fun and Fast notes,brads and hemp twine finish off both cards.
