Clean and Simple Wedding

This weeks challenge on SCS was to make a "Clean and Simple " wedding card which is harder than it sounds because it is hard to simplify a wedding card while still creating something that has to be really pretty! This is actually my 2nd attempt . Would you believe that this is the first time I have inked up this Fun and Fast Notes stamp? Probably because it is one that is usually watercoloured and if you know me well you will know that is not something I really enjoy doing! (Sorry Deb P!)
I got around that problem by embossing the image in silver and then mounting it on aPretty in Pink base. Add some silver cord and brads and an embossed sentiment mounted on some more Pretty in Pink and that's about it! Clean and Simple!.......but I hope pretty too.

CAS # 30 "Makeover"

The Clean and simple challenge on SCS this week is to do a "Makeover" on one of your cards. I chose THIS card because I was never happy with it. I made it for another CAS challenge (#20)which was to use the "paper piecing" technique. For it I also used the colours of CC # 224 which were Pacific point/Tangerine Tango/Summer Sun and Whisper white- a pretty bright combo so I used lots of white to tone it down. However my little paper pieced birdy image which although cute, got a bit lost in all that white...... So this is my makeover of that card- It uses all the same elements of the original but condensed into Fall to layout#56 I am pretty happy with it. Hope you like it too.
And now,seeing as I have the day off today-I am going to give myself a bit of a treat- We have 2 brand new shops in my little suburb- Muffin Break and Lincraft (!!) and I think it is only right and proper that I welcome them and give my support to the new local businesses!! Don't you agree?

Rainbow Ribbon Friend

Made this card for Colour challenge 224 on SCS this week. Also for the Clean and Simple challenge to use the "paper piecing" technique.The colours were Pacific Point/Tangerine Tango/Summer Sun. Very bright choices again. However I read on someones card a useful tip that when you have really bright colours to work with it is a good idea to use lots of white. I liked this idea-didn't want to end up with another "sunglasses required" card!But when it came time to add a ribbon-Oh No!! None of these colours in my stash! But someone recently reminded me (thanks!)that we learned at Convention how to colour our own ribbon using ink pads and daubers. But which colour? Just for fun I used all 3! I think it goes with the simple and fun style of the card. I was glad to use this set again - I had nearly forgotten how cute and adaptable it is!

It is also her Monthly Challenge #4. This was one of those challenges which really intrigued me- It was so hard to do but I just couldn't let it go. There were two different colour groups suggested-Dull colours (More Mustard,Going Grey and Black) and Bright Colours (Pink Passion,YoYo yellow,Tempting Turquoise Green Galore and Lovely Lilac) I just couldn't make them work together ! I kept leaving it and coming back to it the next day- trying everything I could think of! To make it even harder- Leah had also posted a gorgeous sample card for her challenge using the duller colours (scroll down a bit more...) and I liked it so much I found it difficult to think of anything new!! Finally in the end I opted to go for the star from Fun and Fast Notes, the bright colours and flashing dots as my theme but if you look closely you will notice that I did manage to add 2 tiny More Mustard dots and I have used black for the sentiment so I guess in the end I managed it- except for the Going Grey !!! (I'd be going grey if I'd had to add that colour too!)

Here are the new colours for the latest challenge by Kristina. And here is the card I made with them ! The stamp set is Fun and fast Notes- I had not actually ever used the little bird stamp from this collection before and it just seemed to suit Kristina's colour combo - and a thank you card will always be useful to have on hand!

Mel's No Layer challenge

Here is my entry for a "No Layer" challenge that I found on Mel's Blog. I have used ......the star from Fun and Fast Notes /Whisper White card stock/ Old Olive,Elegant Eggplant,Rose Red , and Taken with Teal inks / Soft sky double stitched ribbon and Rich Regal brads.

"Stampin Up" Blitz !!

My "Seeing Stars" card (scroll down to see a previous post) has had a makeover! It is now a Christmas card !-using the "Dashing" Designer Series Paper and cardstock in old olive and real red. The Merry Christmas label is made using the Hostess set "Party Punch" and the Designer Label paper punch. I like using different colours and paper to give a completely different look to a card- guess thats why I'm a fan of the TV "Reno" shows too!

"Seeing Stars"-1

These are also examples of early attempts at card making.At first I did not like the star from Fun and Fast Notes as much as some of the other stamps but I wanted to make some cards that were a bit more masculine looking - so I set about researching what others had done with it. I was inspired by mmbc (SCS) to double layer the star - which looks good using plain cardstock of two different colours or with one layer of printed paper secured with a brad.


I did not have any printed paper except for a "Confetti"-Simply Scrappin kit - so I used that for this card. I started by using the "Taken with Teal" and the spotted print paper. It looked ok but I felt it needed something more. Then I came across a SCS colour challenge using Taken with Teal/Whisper White and also Wild Wasabi. -I had some so I added it and it made the card look good! (if I do say so myself!) The picture again does not do it justice- I will have to do some research about how to get clearer brighter photos! (Any tips gratefully accepted!)

Seeing Stars-2

This card is a CASE of a card by valmin (SCS). Again it uses the Confetti Simply Scrappin kit. I changed the stars to a double layer version and added the spotty band (also made from Confetti)

Seeing Stars-3

This is a CASE of "Scrappinmegs" - who CASED Bridgette (SCS) . I liked it so much I didn't change much ! -except the star which again is double layered using the same Pallette o prints paper. The "flashes" on the star are coloured with Purely Pomegranate ink- if you press the lid into the pad you get a little "puddle" of ink that you can colour with using a blender pen.

Trying out Fun and Fast Notes

These are cards I made when I first received my "Starter Kit" using the stamp set"Fun and Fast Notes" which was included in the kit. These were among the first cards that I ever made-they show that even a real "stamping beginner" can achieve good results with Stampin Up ! products!I have also used "Sprinkles", Pallette o Prints paper, Purely Pomegranate double stitched ribbon and SU green ribbon (which was given to me- I'm not sure of the name of the colour) The baby card uses the "paper piecing" technique and the flowers on the birthday card were coloured using "Stampin Pastels" and a blender pen (also included in the kit) Some brads would have made a good addition to the baby card (to the right of the ribbon) but I did not have any- can't wait for my next order to arrive!
