Cardinal Stampers Picture Inspiration

Here is the Picture Inspiration for a challenge over at the "Cardinal Stampers" blog (See my blog list). .....

And here is the card I made.....

I have used Tempting Turquoise/Night of Navy/Whisper White/and So Saffron cardstock. The So Saffron vases represent the vase shape in the painting on the wall and are made using the large oval punch. The flowers are stamped using the small flower image from Seasons of Joy with Not Quite Navy ink . The stems are pieces of hemp twine. The navy ribbon trim represents the navy stripe on the lounge cushion. I have a friend who is moving into her new home soon. I think I will keep the card for that.

Mel's Toucan Challenge

Mel believes that when she sets a challenge it should really be a challenge! Last week we had to make a "no layer" card which really set our brains working overtime. Funny how it was really hard to make such a simple card. This week she has given us this picture of a toucan to inspire us . The colours she drew from the picture were Handsome Hunter/Real Red/ YoYo yellow/Basic Black and Whisper White. Now I haven't used my Bold Brights Card stock much and I don't own any bold brights ink pads. First step was to get out cardstock for the required colours- YUCK!!! I hated them together!!! I decided that I would give this week a miss! But as I have told you before- I am a very stubborn stamper and I just did not want to be beaten by this challenge !! So I thought and thought and finally came up with an entry that I was happy with! It's a bit late for Keesh's love note challenge- and its probably a bit too simple- oh well it's the best I could do with what I had available. Scroll down to see my Swirly Toucan Love Note....

I'll get a better picture tomorrow but this will have to do for now.... Didn't want to miss the cut off date!

Moniques Better Homes & Garden's Inspiration

Was visiting Moniques blog the other day and came across somthing new . She had bought a copy of Better Homes and Gardens and had decided to use the colours on the pages as an inspiration for her card making. Now , as I am also an avid reader of the mag and watcher of the show too this idea interested me very much. She had chosen the colours she found on this front cover (October 2008 ) to make her card with. It is a Spring inspired edition - such a beautiful combo of blue, pink and green. See the pretty card that Monique made here....
and scroll down to see what I came up with......

My version....

My official site photograher is at work again so this is the best picture I have until tomorrow. The colours look so much prettier in real life ! I have used the same layout that I used for my Funky Eggplant card exept it is turned on its side. The recipe is....Ballet Blue/Brilliant Blue/Regal Rose/ Wild Wasabi. The stamp set mostly flowers and the ribbon Wild Wasabi Striped Grosgrain

Here's my entry !

And here is the card that I made from the inspiration photo. I used DSP from "Confetti" and "Fall Flowers/ Very Vanilla/Choc Chip and my mostly flowers for the stamped image. I have also used my word window punch to make the two little features in the top right panel that are secured with "vintage" brads. The layout is a Beate Weekend Sketch # 58 but with the square motif and word window features added.

The Pomegranate Room

The title for this post would make more sense to you if you had been visiting Gina's blog lately!
(http://www.stampwithgina.blogspot.com/) Each month she runs 2 challenges- a sketch challenge and a colour challenge. She is kind of like Australia's Kristina Werner !!! (except her competition is more fun because her blog viewers get to vote for the winner!!) This is the card I made for her colour challenge .The photo to inspire you was of a beautifully elegant bedroom with brown/pomegranate/pink and grey furnishings. Behind the bed was a large brown wooden carved decoration. I have used Purely Pomegranate/ Chocolate Chip/Basic Grey/ Close to Cocoa and Holiday Harmony DSP. The colours do look a bit washed out in the photo- don't ask me why- normally my problem is that they are too dark! And of course, I didn't feel that I could use anything else than Baroque Motifs for such an elegant room! The square motif is meant to echo the wall decoration. This month's entries are posted on her site now so go over and vote for the one you like best!
