My son is getting married in Sweden next January. But it is still a fairly long way off -so I did not set out today to make a wedding card for him ..I was just perusing the fascinating wedding images of BHLDN which is the site for this week's Inspiration challenge on SCS (#IC333 ). I was instantly attracted to this amazing "Swinging Leaves" backdrop and it reminded me of a technique I had seen recently on Splitcoast- "Faux Dry Embossing" .(TLC #372 ) This technique had interested me as I do not own any fancy embossing templates and I thought it might be a way I could get a similar effect.and ...although a bit time consuming and definitely not my usual CAS style... it seemed as if it would be easy to do. So I set about making a faux embossing panel with my bird punch .....but .. as I added little punched hearts too instead of flowers it started looking more and more Scandinavian and I decided who the recipients of this card was going to be- my son and his future bride! It is still SO amazing to think that we are actually going there and that we will see all the amazing snowy images that I have seen in pictures!... Not to mention sleeping in an ice cave on an ice bed covered with reindeer hide and going for a ride on a sleigh pulled by huskies!! Certainly NOT the usual January pastimes for Aussies!!
Edited to add- I was a little disapointed at the end that I had not put the birds on another layer over the background- so for their actual wedding card I might do another version with that.
The wings are cut from cardstock silver embossed with the Bliss swirl stamp.

It's absolutely perfect as it is and a wonderful idea. Hope you aren't like me when I do things ahead of time - I forget where I put them. I am SOOO jealous of you going to Sweden, it is right up there in must-do destinations.
I think that this is exquisite .
SO gorgeous! Love it Robyn!
