A challenge with a Twist

This week's OLW has an interesting twist..... one that inspired me to go straight to my craft room and make this card! The "boss" of Simplicity (Susan) received an email from a follower thanking her for the inspiration that her blog had given her and her group of stamping friends who make cards for the inmates of North Dakota State Penitentiary to send to their families. Apparently the jail had suddenly stipulated that the cards should not have any "layers" so Susan's "One layer Wednesday"challenge has been a great source of ideas for them. You can read the whole warm and fuzzy story HERE. Anyway OLW # 27 is to make a one layer Christmas card which you can (if you wish) actually send to the group -who will distribute the cards to the men in time for Christmas. So here's mine- it uses my NEW! set "Tree Trimmings" which my mum kindly gave me for my birthday....she is the only one who didn't GROAN when I said that all I want for my birthday present was more new stamps! Good on ya mum!!

This is lovely Robyn! Sure to be appreciated.
What a good Mum you have to buy you what you actually want!

I have this set - and this is a lovely card - I really like how you've created the tree branch.

Another fabulous Christmas card from you! Love the strip of glitter at the top. I read the warm, fuzzy story with interest - I am a huge fan of one layer cards too. Why DO people groan when we say we want stamp sets?! Nice to know your clever mum understands!

What a great card! Love how you used the pine bough and ribbon to give a context to the ornament. Thanks so much for playing the OLW challenge this week, Robyn!
