Secret Pocket Valentine

The Clean and Simple Challenge ( #48) at SCS this week is to make a Valentine card. The Stamping 411 sketch (# 132 ) this week is a very simple sketch with hearts down the left hand side. I combined the 2 challenges to make an "interactive" card for my husband for Valentines Day. (but only had room for 3 hearts..!.)!At first it looks plain enough to appeal to this "No frilly bits please" Aussie male!....but there is a twist..... Each heart is mounted on a square which is actually a mini pocket....Pull on the hemp twine knots to reveal a tiny card with a message! In this case- the letters L Y M (which stand for Love You Much.... a favourite love expression in our family since our children were little). I was happy with this idea which is very simple but has a little bit of a WOW factor I think! You could adapt this idea to many different occasions by changing the image on the pocket to whatever you liked and the messages to any personalised greeting (hand written or computer generated.) eg Happy 21st Toby .... with stars/ Welcome baby Layla.....with teddies/Happy Mothers Day....with flowers. The pockets are made with 2 squares punched with a large square punch (Creative Memories) and adhered on 3 sides with very thin pieces of tape. A bit fiddly but ok for a special occasion card! You could of course pretty up the rest of the card a bit more but as its for MY Aussie bloke -I am leaving it as it is!
